Description
Beschorneria yuccoides ‘Desert Glow’ is a wonderfully exotic-looking Mexican native with long up to 1m, arching sword-shaped leaves which form a bold and vibrant clump. The foliage is a rich green with a fabulous cream-white variegation in the form of fine stripes and a narrow outer margin. During summer months you may be fortunate enough to get a deep pink flower spike which is quite a spectacle and from it hang crazy clusters of bright red-pink and green tulip-like flowers. However the foliage alone is an exotic treat!
For best results, Beschorneria yuccoides ‘Desert Glow’ requires a sunny position in free draining soil. You may also plant it in a container. During the colder months you may wish to offer a little protection from any extreme wet and cold weather. Will tolerate coastal and windy conditions.
Beschoneria require very little attention other than the occasional water however any tatty leaves may be snipped off if required. This is a wonderful addition to an exotic garden, and planted amongst other hardy exotics.
