Description
Agave isthmensis is very attractive minature agave producing a lovely roseatte of broad slightly wavy spined bluish grey leaves up to around 10cm long the whole plant rarely being more than 30cm in diameter. Perfect for container cultivation Agave isthmensis will grow to maturity quite happily in a pot where after a short period of time lots of offsets will be produced further adding to the charm. Although not really hardy this little agave can be grown outdoors during most of the year and brought in undercover once frosts begin. In fact Agave isthmensis can easily be grown as a houseplant on a bright windsill or in a conservatory year round if you wish.
A very special agave originating from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, located on southern coast of Oaxaca and Chiapas in Mexico. Like all agaves must be grown in free draining compost, feed and water well during the summer months and keep almost dry to just moist from October to late February
