Description
Kniphofia rooperi is a tall stately ‘Red Hot Poker’ which contrary to it’s common name has magnificient bright orange, oval almost ball-like flower heads held on robust stems up to 1.4m in height. The leaves are a deep lush green often more than a metre long and tend to be held more upright than other Kniphofia. This is another plant we would not be without due its hardiness and architectural form along with the mid to late summer bursts of almost luminous orange flower spikes. I’d suggest planting it in full full towards the back of a border where its form can add structure throughout the seasons and splash of colour from mid summer into autumn.
