Description
Colocasia ‘Burgundy Stem’ is another fabulous jungly leafed exotic we can grow outdoors which during the milder months produces masses of large deep green heart shaped leaves held on dark ‘burgundy’ stems. Often reaching over 150cm it makes an impressive specimen, further more here in West Sussex it is remarkably hardy regularly surviving our winter if given a little help with a heavy mulch of manure to protect the crown once the frosts have blackened the leaves. Best planted in very fertile moisture retentive soil in part sun avoiding windy spots which can damage the large leaves.
