Persicaria runcinata ‘Purple Fantasy’

Description

Persicaria runcinata ‘Purple Fantasy’ is a glorious variety and one we simply couldn’t resist!  The foliage is etraordinary – beautiful, elongated heart shaped leaves with dreamy stripes of green, burgundy, purple and white-silver.  Primarily grown for the foliage alone, Persicaria runcinata ‘Purple Fantasy’ may also produce dainty white-pink flowers from mid-summer into autumn.  

For best results grow in full sun to partial shade in fertile, moist but well drained soil, you may also grow in a container to great effect.  ‘Purple Fantasy’ will reach up to around 60cm in height and over time, up may form a clump of around 1m.  It spreads via runners however is easily controlled by simply pulling up anyunwanted stems during spring.  Do wear gloves when doing this as some find the foliage irritating. It won’t be bothered by a ‘haircut’ or tidy up in the slightest.  A must have, hardy and versitile and hilghly exotic in appearance.
