Description
Canna ‘Russian Red’ is a very impressive canna with large, banana like jungly dark red-bronze leaves with outrageous orange/red flowers which appear during summer. Reaching up to 3m in height, this fabulous Canna does best in a sunny spot planted in fertile moisture retentive soil. A very tough and easy to grow variety although not considered totally hardy seems to do well planted year round here at Big Plant as long as the base of the plant is given a heavy mulch of compost to protect it during it’s winter dormancy. Can also be grown in a large container but will need lots of water and regular doses of Liquid seaweed feed to keep it happy. A top canna that is easy and seems resitant to the dreaded canna virus.
