Description
The Phyllostachys aureosulcata ‘Spectabilis’ rather unimaginatively known as the green stripe crookstem bamboo is actually a rather special bamboo with elegant upright growth and attractive golden yellow culms (canes) which have alternate green vertical strips in the sulcis (the opposing indentations on the side of the stem where the branches were formed as the cane grew) One of the earliest bamboo to show signs of life each year with shoots often emerging in April. As the new culms develop the golden yellow is often flushed pinkish red where the sun strikes them creating a stunning effect.
To complement the brightly coloured culms the leaves are reasonably small and dainty, a deep green in colour.
The Phyllostachys aureosulcata ‘Spectabilis’ makes a superb specimen or screen often reaching 5-6 metres high with ease. Being one of the fastest and relatively large bamboo’s we can grow here it’s roots too can be quite aggressive and unless you require a grove, I would definitely recommend you use a root barrier to either guide or restrict your ‘Spectabilis’ in the direction you want to keep it.

Uma Patel –
Keeping meaning to write a review, I bought 20 of these bamboos, (3.5 metres) service and information was brilliant. They delivered them only when it was safe to do so, in order to avoid breakage and they look amazing. Can wait till they really feel out and give us privacy.
Thank you Big Plant Nursery
