Description
Alocasia odora ‘Indian’ is an exciting rare Alocasia from the Himaylan foothills of Northern India, looking similar when young to Alocasia cucullata having large oval almost heart shaped leaves but differing distinctly by its paler lush green colour and ultimately much larger growth appearing in stature similar to its giant cousin Alocasia macrorrhiza. For us gardeners here in the U.K and I guess most of you reading this will be lovers of all things jungly Alocasia odora ‘Indian’ is a robust strong growing Alocasia with upright strong growth and lovely big leaves. Obviously not fully hardy but remarkably tolerant of our relatively cooler summers and happy growing outside right up to just before the first frosts of Autumn. Position in part sun to shade and feed and water regularly for best results. Overwinter either as a large houseplant or in a cool conservatory or heated glasshouse.
