Colocasia fontanesii ‘Black Stem’ is a fabulous variety with the most beautiful, almost irridescent/metalic heart-shaped leaves which are held on deep, almost black-purple stems.  Although not fully hardy in the UK, Colocasia fontanesii ‘Black Stem’ can be treated much like a dahlia; it can be planted out for the warmer months in a sun to semi shaded, moist position and then it can be lifted ands stored in a frost free environment for the winter months.  Will reach up to 1.5m in height and spread and appreciates planting in some organnic matter.  Spectacular!
