Description
Espostoa melanostele is an amazing columnar cactus otherwise known as ‘Peruvian Old Lady’. It’s covered in thick white hair with gold spines and will often sprout from the base growing multiple ‘heads’.
Native to Peru, Espostoa is accustomed to dry and sunny habitats and as such is extremely drought tolerant. Plant in very free draining soil and water only occasionally during warmer months. Here in the UK the ‘Peruvian Old Lady’ is best planted in a container and kept under cover for the winter months in a bright, frost free environment. During the hotter months it may be placed outside but otherwise conservatories, greenhouses or simply a sunny windowsil will suffice.
When watering, wait until the plant is completely dry before watering again. We recommend adding Cacti & Succulent Focus wich is available in this section.
An excellent addition to your collection and a cool gift too!
