Description
Pittosporum tobira ‘Nanum’ known as ‘Dwarf Japanese Mock Orange’ is a beautiful slow growing mound shaped evergreen with lustrous deep green leaves. During May each year Pittosporum tobira ‘Nanum’ produces clusters of very fragrant, sweetly scented, creamy white flowers which as its name suggests are reminscent of orange blossum. Looking so lush and exotic it is somewhat surprising how tolerant of salt and coastal conditions it is too. Happy in sun or shade but perhaps flowering best in sunny spots planted in fertile free draing soil.
Can reach a metre in diameter and is rarely more than 60cm high looking great when planted in groups amongst grasses and herbaceous plants. A good plant for milder gardens particulary along the coast or urban locations being fairly tolerant of freezing conditions but not perhaps ideal for colder rural spots.
