Description
Poncirus trifoliata is a very unusual shrub related to citrus, and is often used as the rootstock for grafting different citrus varieties, due to its strong growh and cold tolerance. It flowers around March, before the leaves appear and after a good summer will produce small round orange fruits (only really suitable for marmalade!).
The whole plant is covered in large spines, which gives its an amazing architectural appearance during the winter months. Fast growing and easy to grow either planted out or in a container.
