Description
Cyrtomium devexiscapulae, commonly known as the ‘Sickle Leaved Holly Fern’ is a beautiful, rarely seen member of the holly fern group originating from China. We particularly like this fern due to its hardiness and large size, often spreading 80cm or more in diameter.
The long evergreen fronds attractively twist as they develop creating an interesting architectural form. This is a perfect fern for shady sheltered positions in fertile, moisture retentive but not waterlogged soils. Generally hardy throughout the UK, in colder regions it may respond by being deciduous but for us in the south of England we are happy to call it an evergreen specimen fern.
