Stipa gigantea

Description

Stipa gigantea, or ‘Giant Feather Grass’ as it’s often named, is a fabulous perennial grass with narrow dark green leaves. Extraordinary, huge panicles of large golden spikelets open in late spring changing to silvery-gold as they mature.

Remains ornamental until the very hard frosts and in fact the flowers look fabuouls when frosted so keep them until Spring when the plant may be cut back. Height 1.8m. Spread 1.8m. Flowers from June to October.
