Description
Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Merveille Sanguine’ is a true aristocrat amongst hydrangeas being my favaourite of this much maligned family overlooked by many with memories of tired old gardens by the seaside with masses of woody scruffy looking hydrangeas. Please think again as ‘Merveille Sanguine’ is a real star with the deep dark green glossy leaves the foliage itself is enough to impress but from mid summer onwards the large mop head flower display begins with shocking deep crimson through to almost violet blooms as they age into the autumn, spectacular and a real talking point.
Can’t really say anymore about ‘Merveille Sanguine’ it’s one very easy to grow hydrangea I wouldn’t be without. Hardy and tolerant of most soils and of course coastal conditions.
