Description
Japanese Maple. A beautiful maple with delicate foliage that can be bright pink in the spring. It remains green throughout the summer but turns to a brilliant pinky-red in the autumn. It should be planted away from strong winds and ideally out of the heat of the afternoon sun. Good, rich, moist soil – not chalky. Keep well watered until established.
- Position:Dappled sun / part shade, out of cold, drying winds - especially coastal winds.
- Soil:All soils, but avoid waterlogged areas very dry soils will need extra watering.
- Eventual Size:1. 5 to 3 metres, but can be pruned.
- Habit:Deciduous open, strongly branched small tree.
- Foliage:Deciduous.
