Cordyline australis ‘Red Star’

Description

Here we have another fabulous Cordyline.  Often referred to as ‘The Cabbage Palm’, Cordyline australis isn’t strictly speaking a palm but it sits wonderfully amongst other palms and hardy exotics.

Cordyline australis ‘Red Star’ is a fabulously exotic looking variety with deep pinky-burgundy sword shaped leaves.  It’s tolerant of wind and coastal conditions and ultimately can grow into a small ‘tree’ much like other Codylines.

As with all Cordylines, ‘Red Star’ requires free-draining soil in a sunny position and is ideally suited to milder gardens.  It may also be grown in a container if desired; either way it requires very little attention other than snipping off any tatty leaves.

Perfectly suited to planting amongst other hardy exotic and jungly plants which as you’ve probably worked out by now, we absolutely love here at Big Plant Nursery.
