Aloe x spinosissima

Description

Aloe x spinosissima, commonly known as the ‘Spider Aloe’ is a really showy hybrid of two species of Aloe, humilis and arborescens.  The Spider Aloe produces beautiful deep red flowers during winter and early spring on stout red hot poker like stems.  Drought resistent and easy to grow, like most aloes can either be grown in a bright position indoors or in a conservatory and is suitable for outdoor cultivation during frost free months.  

Can eventually form an architectural specimen up to 1.5m tall.  Poisonous if eaten but like Aloe Vera the sticky sap has medicinal properties.
