Fascicularia bicolor

Description

Fascicularia bicolor is a striking, evergreen bromeliad which forms a rosette of narrow spiky leaves the centre of which becomes bright scarlet as the plant prepares to flower. The small flowers which form at the heart of the leaves are a brilliant, metallic blue. Drought, sun and wind tolerant, this is an excellent plant for coastal situation in full sun and a well-drained soil. Will happily live in a pot for many years in a well-drained compost. Height 40cm. Spread 40cm. An interesting and beautiful plant.
