Description
Here we have another fabulous Yucca! Prized for their architectural form, tolerance of drought and extraordinary flowers, yuccas have a special place in our hearts at Big Plant Nursery.
Yucca recurvifolia ‘Bight Star’ forms a wonderfully dense and compact rosette of long, sword-shaped light green-blue leaves with striking yellow borders. The bold leaves curve downwards and during periods of intense heat, or cold, take on beautiful hues of pink on their margins. During the summer months a tall flower spike of up to 1.5m will emerge creating a dramatic effect. From it hang dense panicles of extraordinary deep-pink buds which open into white bell-shaped flowers.
As with most yuccas, plant in a sunny position in free-draining soil. This is an ideal candidate for coastal and milder gardens and will also thrive in a container. Yucca recurvifolia ‘Bright Star’ is thought to be hardy down to around -12° C.
